The Onkyo brand is best known for its AV amps, but the A-9010 is a great indicator of just how good its stereo products can be.

You can build a system around this Onkyo and develop it strongly without the amplifier becoming the limiting factor.

With the cursors, select the REMOTE MODE button for which you want to register a remote control code and press ENTER to display the subcategory selection screen. Remote Controller' - 'Remote Mode' and press ENTER. Im using it as part of a bedroom hi-fi system in conjunction with Mission 780SE speakers (£15 off eBay) and a Raspberry Pi with HiFimeDIY Sabre U2 Asynchronous DAC for playing music using Squeezelite over Wi-Fi. After pressing RECEIVER on the remote controller, press SETUP. It’s quite happy driving the Q Acoustics 3050i floorstanders and is transparent enough to show differences between Marantz’s CD6006 UK Edition and Audiolab’s 8200CD. I bought an Onkyo A-9211 for £50 off eBay, where it was in absolutely mint condition. The A-9010’s breadth of ability means that you don’t need to stick with similarly priced partnering kit. MORE: Best stereo amplifiers 2020 Verdict That’s a good thing considering budget equipment can often sound edgy or thin. The Onkyo sounds open and lively in the treble but never veers towards aggression. There’s a pleasing freedom to the way it hits peaks – and a surprisingly solidity too. A decent amount of scale is on show here, but it’s the way the amplifier deals with dynamic shifts that impresses us most. It has enough refinement and insight to deliver John Williams’ Hymn to the Fallen (opens in new tab) (from the Saving Private Ryan (opens in new tab)OST) convincingly.

Do you have any informations on it Best regards. While browsing the net, I realized that it was a disease on some ONKYO Amp. There’s also an 1/8 jack for connecting an Onkyo source component - CD player, network player, or tuner - so that the A-9110’s remote control (included) will control that source as well as all A-9110 settings: Input, Volume, Muting, Direct mode, Phase Matching Bass. The remote is long and slender - I found it a bit too long to fit. The A-9010 is happy across musical genres. Hello I have a hifi amplifier ONKYO A-9211 and I have a problem with the input selector that switches itself (it does not remain on the desired source, but ranges from 2). If you find it really really cheap, ok i cannot totally write off the amp but just don't think it will be something of quality sound ,more like a "just play music" amp. There’s composure too – the amp keeps the multitude of instrumental strands in check even when the music becomes demanding.Īdd the Onkyo’s superb timing and strong dynamic expression and you have an amplifier that makes listening to music fun. It is somewhat neutral and could propably fit soneone with a low budget just looking to play some music rather an audiophile. I would still say, ok its only £69 s/h but since there are there many cheap amps, why bother while you get a NEW much better amp for around £50 more ? Also, distorion is present at medium volume. At low volume my B&W's (602 s3) woofer was moving like it was made plasteline.Īt a damping factor of 60 (and i though paper specs did not mean anything)this amp really losses control over the speakers on the lows. No control, no focus, no nothing.Don't even try to use it with standmounts that can't handle bass. Bass is fatty, smudged and all over the place up to the lower midband. I could live with all that since the price is low if the amp hadn't one major flow - low frequensy responce. A bit laid back, dynamics medium and not quite good at separation soundstaging not there. Highs are ok but some times overdefined and harsh, midrange somewhat clear. Sound is ok ,average with medim-low detail, a bit crispy though but nothing special. Well, even for £69 pounds i would not recommend this amp.The reason is simple : even for £100 you could get these days a marantz (pm4200) or a cambridge that surely ,on the whole, will be better that this amp.
